• Decide what type of trip to take
• Select an outfitter
• Take the right steps to complete your trip

When you’re ready to make your reservation, contact an outfitter directly. Please be aware that some trips start selling out a year or more in advance, although cancellations are often available. Contact your outfitter as soon as you’re ready to book your trip.

See our Grand Canyon river outfitters section to learn more about the sixteen river running companies licensed to guide you and your family through the Grand Canyon. Here you will find a short introduction to each company and a direct link to their website.

See our Grand Canyon river trip options page for help understanding the great variety of trips that are offered. Each trip description will also list the outfitters that provide that particular trip style.

See our step-by-step guide to booking a river trip for detailed assistance on how to reserve and prepare for your Grand Canyon river adventure.

Please, One Trip Per Year. Due to limited availability, the National Park Service restricts recreational boating opportunities on the Colorado River within Grand Canyon National Park to one trip per year per individual.  Because of this regulation, the Grand Canyon river outfitters cannot accept a reservation from any individual who has or will participate in any other full or partial canyon commercial or non-commercial river trip within the same calendar year.

If you have already completed or have plans to participate in any other Grand Canyon river trip this year and would like to go again, please wait until next year or sometime thereafter to book your next trip. Grand Canyon National Park's one-trip-per-year rule is strictly enforced.

Please keep in mind that you must contact one of the
sixteen river outfitters directly to make your reservation.
